With Valentine's Day coming up, I wanted to check in with my fellow single women of God and share some journaling prompts to check in with God. I know it's not easy being out here in these dating streets, waiting on the Lord, so if the thought of this holiday coming up has you in your feels, I see you.
But more importantly than me seeing you, God sees you. I know it's tough to reconcile that a loving father would see the tears you cry, and yet respond with either "no" or "not yet" but He sees you and isn't indifferent to your pain.
Use these journaling prompts to check in with Him about how you're feeling and pour your heart out to Him. As you do, know that He hears you, He sees you, and He loves you!

1. How are you feeling right now, in this moment? Write to God about it.
Be open and honest with Him about how you are feeling today, about this holiday, about yourself, about your singleness, everything.
2. What are some things you've been learning about yourself while single? Write to God about them as if you were revealing them to Him for the first time.
Yes, God knows all things, and He knows what you've been learning already. But it's incredible what happens when we start testifying about what the Lord has been doing in our lives. All of a sudden, our hearts shift from a posture of lacking to a posture of gratitude. So use this prompt to check in with God about the things you feel He's been teaching you, but also to remind yourself of how fruitful this season has been.
3. What negative thoughts have you been believing about yourself? Write to God about them.
I don't even know what these thoughts are, but I can already tell you that they are lies from the enemy. Write to God about these negative thoughts you've been having in relation to your singleness and ask Him to help you replace them with the truth of His Word.
4. Write about a previous season where you faithfully waited on the Lord and He came through for you.
Sometimes it helps to remember how faithful God was in the past, as you're waiting on Him in the present. Use this prompt to remember how good and faithful God has been to you and cling onto that memory as a reminder that He will be faithful in this area of your life too.
5. What's something you're anxious about when it comes to your singleness?
Whether it's the fear that it will never happen for you, or that the Lord has forgotten about you, or that this is punishment for something you did in the past (all lies from the enemy btw), write to God about the fears you are feeling when it comes to your singleness and surrender them to Him.
6. Write a prayer for your future spouse.
Wherever they are, your future spouse might also be going through what you're going through today. Use this prompt to turn your longing for them into a prayer for them. Lift them up to the Lord in prayer and ask the Lord to keep them as He is keeping you.
7. What areas of your heart still need healing? Write to God about them.
Write to God about any wounds you’ve been carrying, whether from past relationships, disappointments, or self-doubt, and ask Him to reveal to you any wounds you may not be aware of yet.
8. Write to God about your struggle to be content in this season.
If you're struggling to be content in this season, write to God about it. Be open and honest with Him about how you're feeling and ask Him to help you find contentment in Him.
9. If you could use only one word to describe your single season so far, what would it be?
Write to God about the word you chose and unpack why you chose that word with Him.
10. Read Proverbs 3:5-6. What comes to mind when you read those verses? Write to God about it.
This verse helps anchor me in the truth that no matter what is going on in my life, God is in control and He knows best. I pray as you read it, it brings up any area of your heart where you need to trust God more and surrender more to Him so you can unpack them with Him.
I pray these prompts help you feel connected, seen, and loved by God this Valentine's Day. Pour your heart out to Him and stay anchored in the truth that your Heavenly Father loves you and cares about you.
Happy Journaling!
